3 egg whites (at room temp.) 3-1/2 cups of sugar
1 cup white karo syrup
3/4 cup water
2 cups of pecans or walnuts
Boil syrup, sugar and water until drop in cold water cracks. Pour 1/3 over stiffly beaten egg whites and continue to cook syrup. (only until 1st third is well mixed) Pour another 1/3 over egg whites and continue to cook syrup. (until 2nd third is well mixed) Add remaining 1/3 syrup and beat until it begins to thicken. Add nuts and stir by hand until cool. Drop by teaspoon on wax paper. (You have to drop quickly as once it cools, it sets up fast.)
Makes 5 dozen pieces.
