4 c gravy (see recipe below)
4 slices white bread
1/2 lb thinly sliced roast turkey breast
4 slices of tomato
Slices of crisp bacon
Cheddar cheese (shredded or a slice)
Preheat boiler. Toast bread. Top toast with turkey, tomatoes and a few spoonfuls of gravy or sauce. Top with 2 slices of bacon and cover with cheese. Broil until cheese turns golden brown (2-5 minutes) and remove
Serves 4
To make 1 cup of gravy: (for 2 cups, use 2 of everything, etc.)
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp flour
1 c milk
Salt and pepper
Melt butter, add flour on medium heat and cook 1-2 minutes, add milk and whisk until it thickens, add salt and pepper to taste.
Alternate Sauce:
1 tbs butter
1 tbs flour
1 1/4 c whole milk
3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
2 tbs grated parmesan cheese
Melt 1 tbs butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour
and cook 40 seconds. Increase heat to high, add milk, and bring to a
boil. Cook, whisking constantly, until mixture thickens, about 4
minutes. Remove from the stove and slowly whisk in cheddar and parmesan.
Season with salt and pepper, cover and keep warm.
